•Volatile. A BSR is a 7-day decay average. The number above is a steady-state estimate, not what you sold yesterday.
•Curve is steep. Moving from #28k to #10k roughly doubles daily sales. Below #5k the curve gets brutal.
•Marketplace matters. UK Books is roughly 18% of US volume at the same rank. DE about 12%. Apply the ratio in your head.
•Category matters more than rank. "BSR" in a niche category isn't the same as overall Books BSR. Kindle-only ranks lag print.
•eBook 70% royalty only applies $2.99–$9.99 on US, UK, and DE. All other prices drop to 35%. Paperback & Hardcover earn 60% minus printing cost.
